Sprout
A downloadable game for Windows and macOS
You feel gentle a thump as you land in the warm tropical sand. Who are you? Who do you want to be? Something in your heart whispers of shade, majesty, and acorns. What does this mean?
Your mother waves to the east. On the far side of the ocean is a world! Plants and animals! Mountains and valleys! Birds and flowers and a forest of mighty oaks. Yes! You know that this is who and what you are meant to be: an oak.
Your parents can't teach you how to be an oak. The only one who can teach you how to be an oak is another oak. Still, your parents teach you what they can - the way of the coconut. This will give you the ability to cross to the mainland, and be one step closer to your goal. It's not much, but it's a start!
In Sprout, you will embark on a casual, botanical-puzzle-adventure. You will make friends, learn new skills, solve puzzles, and ultimately become the mighty oak that you were always meant to be.

The most important Sprout game.
Sprout, by Jeff Nusz is an early indie game made in flash, very influential for me. I am very glad Mindful Mammoth preserved it for posterity.
Sprout is a wonderful game with hand-drawn art and a simplified character model: you are a coconut seed who dreams of becoming an acorn; to achieve this, you must travel through the world, changing your genes and transforming into other plants you encounter along the way. Your actions are thus limited to transforming into one type of plant or another and letting yourself be guided by the environment and the story.
The interface and UX experience is just perfect, and I crave for using it in my future indie projects.
Thanks a lot, Jeff and Mammoths!

Super little game. Plays nice. Art and animations are great. Well worth a play.
I really like the artstyle, i found it very charming.
on the gameplay side of things i do wish there was more of a branching path. Each step only has one right option and everything else just takes you back and i would love it if different choices took you down different paths
i loved pics.
